A 6-year Flashback

Today is the 6-year anniversary of my first date with my husband, Michael. Back then I couldn't imagine the life I live now. This photo was taken in my apartment at Brigham Young University during our first week together. It was just three months after I finished my mission in California. You can see my Elder Embree name-tag hanging from the bulletin board behind us with two biblical illustrations by some of my then-favorite artists. Dating Michael meant risking everything at BYU--my education, my church, my standing in the priesthood, my relationships with family, friends, and roommates--but I think the look on our faces in this photo expresses why I was willing to put it all on the line.
